City of Melbourne Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Awards 2022 Shortlist Announced

In November Emma Rennison was shortlisted in one of the categories of the City of Melbourne Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Awards 2022. This year the Awards introduced a new category, Self-told Stories by Writers Living with a Disability, and Emma’s short memoir piece, ‘A Bed Not My Own’, was one of nine shortlisted pieces selected by the five judges.

The annual awards now has five categories - Short Story Set in Melbourne, Narrative Non-fiction, Poetry, Life Writing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Writers, and Self-told Stories by People Living with a Disability. There is one winner from each category and an overall winner.

Over five hundred emerging writers entered this year, so to be shortlisted in an incredible achievement.
