Writers Victoria Anthology, Writing Up a Storm, Features Short Memoir

Last year Emma was part of one of the Writers Victoria Writeability ‘Storming the City’ writing groups. Members of the two groups, run by Nicole Smith and Jax Brown, were asked to contribute to an anthology - Writing Up a Storm - and today it was released.

The collection features a short memoir by Emma called ‘Smile’ which looks at being a disabled parent attempting to cope after their child is diagnosed with a similar condition, and the strong impact of words at this time.

These Writeability groups offer opportunities for writers with disability to meet regularly under the guidance of mentors, and the anthology shows the diversity of the authors involved, and their lived experience of disability. It shows responses to living in a world where disability intersects with so many other facets of identity, including gender and motherhood.
