Runner-up in the PWC Writers in Residence competition

Emma’s short story ‘The Date’ was awarded runner-up in the Peninsula Writers’ Club Writer in Residence 2026 competition. Her story followed Lisa Matlin’s ‘The Solace of Water’ which took first place in the annual competition, which provides an opportunity for members to have their work recognised and published throughout the year. Two highly commended prizes went to Sarah Halfpenny and Sheena Robertson.

The competition was judged by Nicola Hayes and is supported by the Bendigo Bank Community Bank Southern Peninsula. Lisa’s winning story, and all pieces written during her writer-in-residence period, can be read online on the Peninsula Writers’ Club website.
