‘Dawn’ Highly Commended in the GWN Short Story Competition

The Gippsland Writers Network summer 2022 ‘Heat’ writing competition attracted entries from around Australia. This is the second competition the GWN has run and the theme encouraged a huge range of stories.

Dawn received Highly Commended and the following judges’ report was given:

‘A strong, compelling narrative set in a dystopian sci-fi world. This story is well drawn and pacy with a hopeful ending.’

‘This was tightly written and a unique take on this theme. It ends on a positive note. We know something has happened but we don’t need to know what or why for this to work.’
